INTRODUCTION

I’m sharing information with you here about a friend of mine, Bob Brickley. Bob needs a kidney transplant from a living donor. He has fought chronic kidney disease for the past ten years. And understandably he is reluctant to share this about himself, so I’m doing this for him. Why? A kidney transplant would be a Gift of Life to Bob.  It would also be a Gift to all of us who know him. Let me tell you a little about Bob.

Bob Brickley has dedicated his life to helping others. He’s had an exceptionally successful career. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to build three businesses in Philadelphia, Hartford and Atlanta. Today, he helps people grow in his role as a Life Coach. Over his career, he has led and coached hundreds of people achieve better lives.…and in many cases their best lives. He has engaged as a consultant specializing in culture clarity and team building by executives and leaders of companies throughout the country.

Bob has a blog with over 400 posts on it that he’s written for the past nine years focusing on people, relationships, spirituality, and personal experiences that have highlighted his many life accomplishments. In 2023 he authored a book entitled CONNECTIONS that suggests there is an invisible energy that guides and directs much of our lives. A second book is in process. The impact Bob has had while building businesses, consulting and coaching is significant. He wants to continue these pursuits to help as many others as he can. If Bob is unable to find a Living Kidney Donor, his invaluable journey would be severely restricted and would come to an end.

A recent medical evaluation revealed that Bob’s current kidney function is less than 20%. After a four- month medical evaluation, he was placed on the Kidney Transplant Waiting List in March 2025 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Acceptance on a Kidney Transplant Waiting List qualifies him to receive a kidney from a deceased donor with the average wait time of 3-7 years. Finding a kidney from a Living Donor is by far a much better alternative with benefits such as a lower risk of rejection, less chance of complications and a longer survival rate compared to a kidney from a deceased donor.

I am not suggesting that you personally consider becoming his Living Kidney Donor. But I would ask that you SHARE BOB’s STORY and his website with your family, friends, co-workers, business associates, religious organizations, business associates and social media communities to help him find a living kidney donor. It is our hope that a living donor can be found. It would be greatly appreciated if you would help Bob in his search to find a living kidney donor.

I have attached several links below that provides important information about kidney donations:

What Would I Do With The Gift Of Life….. In Bob’s Words

Specifically:

  • I have become involved with the Boy’s Clubs of America and have begun the process of “fathering” a young boy seeking guidance and adult support.
  • I would continue my involvement with the Men’s Group at my church and as a guest lecturer to various groups including high school sports programs, church groups and civic organizations.
  • I want to become a Living Kidney Donor Advocate to educate the public about the urgent need of becoming a Living Kidney Donor and giving The Gift of Life to others in need.
  • I have triplet 21yr old grandsons. Spent a year with them every Sunday by phone reviewing “Daily Wisdom for Men” a book that focuses on spiritual development. They have recently graduated from college and have asked me to continue this process with them.
  • Travel, golf, always moving closer to my family … continuing with my blog.

These are my talents I have been blessed with that I want to continue sharing with others.

I want to thank you for your consideration in helping Bob. We would like to have Bob Brickley in our lives for many more years to come.

How You Could Help Here …

  • Share Bob’s Story and his website with your family, friends, co-worker’s, acquaintances, business associates, religious organizations and social media networks. Someone may want to step forward and donate the Gift of Life to Bob.
  • Consider getting tested yourself.

How Would You Benefit by Doing This?

  • You would receive a comprehensive health evaluation and medical tests beyond the scope of a routine annual physical potentially revealing health issues currently unknown to you. Bob’s insurance covers all costs related to the donor process including transplant.
  • As a potential living kidney donor, you would be “saving a life” while at the same time determining your own current health status.
  • Getting tested requires no commitment that you actually donate a kidney. You can stop the process at any time.
  • Your safety and privacy would be assured.

Criteria for Eligibility

  • Age 18 or older
  • Physically & mentally healthy
  • Two healthy kidneys
  • Blood & tissue compatibility

If You Decide to Donate? What Can You Expect …

  • Surgery would be laparoscopic. Surgery minor, not major.
  • A stay of 2-3 days in the hospital.
  • Full return to normal activities within 10-14 days on average.
  • Medical research confirms that donating a kidney and living with one would have no impact on living a normal, healthy lifestyle and a full life.

Important Facts

  • There are currently over 100,000 people on the Kidney Transplant Waiting List in the USA. The odds of getting a kidney from a deceased donor are limited since the waiting list time is 3-7 years on average.
  • On average 15 people on the Waiting List die each day while seeking a kidney from a deceased donor.
  • A kidney from a diseased donor lasts on average 8-15 years. A kidney from a living donor lasts on average 15-25 years.

The Importance of Avoiding Dialysis …

  • Those who receive a kidney transplant live longer than patients on dialysis.
  • Negatives of dialysis include:
    • Higher risk of heart disease, anemia, infection and low blood pressure.
    • Increased fatigue, loss of focus, muscle spasms, diminished energy, anemia and diminished physical daily activity and overall mobility.
